This version is for the simple minded who can't handle strong raw emotional voices. Beyonce's a good technical singer, but if you're looking for soul, forget it! That's why Etta moves so many people because you can feel what she's singing.

This version is amazing. People can say what they want, but she sang this with her soul and it was pretty obvious at the end when she cried (and we all know Bey is not a good actress, those couldn't have been fake). This version is pretty iconic and having the biggest artist in the world at the time sing it helped cement it as a classic record. SO much better than SCREAMtina Aguilera's version.

Sure having Etta(RIP) probably would have been amazing but the whole campaign had a strong youth factor. And being that many of the younger generation did go out and vote mre than evr it was only rite to have a more contemporary singer. Though Christina A sings the song amzingly too she screams way too much nd though Jennifer Hudson has more soul shes way too loud. Beyonce was the perfect choice becuz she kept it simple classic and classy. The occasion wasnt the type to take it to church. . .
