But Chester isn't actually playing the notes - or anything even close. I'm guessing that they used him in the video because the real guitarist was not available when they came to shoot it.
David Gilmour is also credited on the Boys and Girls album and, tbh, this sounds more like his work than Mark Knopfler's.
Guys, that's Chester Kamen playing guitar. He is the guitarist on this song and several others for Bryan Ferry during the mid-80's to mid-90's. His brother Nick Kamen was a model, so forgive him his good looks. Mark Knopfler did play on a few other songs on the Boys and Girls Album.
Hate to be a pedant, but the track was written by Ferry and Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits (the guitar solo really gives it away). No idea why there's some Gucci model playing all the guitar parts, including Ferry doing it, too. It's a gorgeous track whick deserved a better video. Don't Stop the Dance is pretty much the same, too.

Those two asshole dancing about during Mark Knopfler's beautiful solo completely ruin it - I don't know who thought that was a good idea.

The vid reminds me of David Bowies loving the alien.

You could be forgiven for assuming Roxy was on back up.....Very Mackay and Manzanera sounding. Still a marvelous sound though
