Passenger Train and Long Freight Train pace each other towards Railroad Level Crossing - PoathTV

Two V/line passenger trains were scheduled to pass my filming location around the same time and I was hoping to catch them as they crossed. In the distance I saw a headlight on the standard gauge line indicating a freight train was on its way so I thought "Wouldn't it be good if I got the freight train and one of the passenger trains at the same time.". The only way I could be sure to get all the action was to set the camera in the middle of a wide level crossing, hope the settings were right then leave the camera unattended while I moved away from the tracks to a safer location. In the end things worked out even better than I could have ever hoped for when the standard gauge "Steelink" steel train and a broad gauge V/line Sprinter railcar set arrived together, and then moments later a V/line V/locity passenger railcar passed in the opposite direction! How often do you see three trains meet like this :-)

Great video. Never in a million years would you be able to stand in a position like that in the UK. You would find gates and spiked fences with red notice saying TRESPASS £1,000 fine.

filmed on a railway level crossing, camera was left unattended while the trains did their thing. I had moved back behind the safety zone of the boom gates long before they had started ringing the bells as standing in the middle of 3 tracks is just silly, even when they're this far apart.
