Though he was never as widely known as Larry Adler or Toots Thielemans, those who knew him and heard him perform regard him as the greatest chromatic harmonica player who ever lived. This video is of a performance at Columbus Ohio in 1991. Accompanying Pete on various keyboards and synthesizers is Jim watkins. For more info about Pete Pedersen go to www.petepedersen.com

  • Jim, let me first say that no soloist shines if his/her accompanist is inept. When one sees such refined collaboration as yours with Pete, both shine. I'll be sure to explore your channel more, and already have, because your talents are well worth noting. Favorited this for starters.

I met and was honored by friendship with Pete several (too few) years before his passing - IN Columbus, OH, in fact. That said, I am wondering if this video was shot at a Buckeye Harmonica convention, yes?

  • @bobbgeez

Thanks! Nice to hear from you. Yes I believe it was the Buckeye convention.

I was extremely fortunate to know Pete as my friend, my teacher and my inspiration.

It was an extraordinary honor to perform with him for many years.

    Best wishes,

    Jim watkins

    Friendly greetings Chris and Mayka.

  • Thank you, Chris & Mayka.

The greatest blessing in my life, other than my wife Peggy, was my friendship with Pete Pedersen. Unfortunately, Pete passed away a few years ago. His biography, "Be of Good Cheer" by Jaine Rodack is available online. He was a truly remarkable person.

  • Thanks for posting this video. Pete was my uncle. I was listening to some of his music tonight and just did a random youtube search. It was really great to see this. Growing up, Pete alway had a joke or something to make anyone in the family laugh. Such great memories! Thanks again for the post. Love it. Jason
