This is possibly the best video I have seen of both "Bittern" and Durham Viaduct. I have a video from around 1987 from the exact spot where you shot this, the little castle turret, of HST's and DMU's passing Durham before electrification, but my Grandad has it! Great Vid, I love it!

@pendolinokriscfc , appreciate the comment. Do youhappen to know whether it is still possible just to stroll onto Durham platform? I heard a nasty rumour that barriers have now been installed, although I don't know if that means you can still get on there by paying for a platform ticket.

Absolutely great piece of video, what a statement A4 60019 Bittern makes when entering any built up area, and on a dead straight road, fantastic, thank you for posting this gem

Thanks for the very kind comment. I arrived at Durham when she was scheduled to pass and at that time the sun was at just the right angle to make Bittern glint and gleam beautifully as she passed. Unfortunately, she was delayed by an hour and eventually passed by in the gathering gloom of twilight instead. She was still worth the wait, though, as always.
