@phillijv actually, you needed to collect a certain amount of Ace Coins to unlock each world.

@happytreefriendssuck Then why did you say something so freaking stupid? If you can read then you shouldnt of had to ask something this dumb >_>.
-
@millieman76 You need a certain number of "A" coins to unlock each. 25 for the first, 50 for the second, and i think 75 for the third.

It's been a while and I forget the details, but I believe each Toad House opens after you import and complete a certain number of level cards, which isn't even possible with just the number of cards released in the US, but you can unlock all three if you collect all the Japanese cards.

Technically those plants are a reference to a non-mario game nintendo made. Only released in japan. Super mario 2 is that game with graphic changes and some difficulty alterations.

True, and while the conventional wisdom is that this fact makes Mario 2 (USA) an illegitimate Mario game, the other game it was based on was designed by Miyamoto himself, who did not in fact have much of anything to do with the "real" Mario 2 released in Japan.
So, Mario 2 USA is, in some sense, even more legitimately part of the Mario series than Mario 2 JP, and you'll find that many, many ideas and enemies introduced in the game were repeated in later Mario games.

The eReader was available in american for the mario games for a short time. I still have some of the cards for it. Just was never able to find an eReader to buy. I would assume the US version of the game would have the same levels.

Half the levels were briefly available in the US, but the other half never made it out of Japan; this one of the Japan-only levels :)
