You can see how they lick the sugar powder with their tongues from their open beaks. Their beaks are shaped so that they can open fruit and flowers and lick the nectar. Sydney, Australia

  • Buzzin'

  • Looks sweet and innocent, but at the end of the day, they'll go home and tell their friends, and they'll tell their friends, eventually you will end up with a bunch of twitching birds on your front porch looking to score.

  • Rainbow Lorikeet should be one of Angy Birds characters!

    omg!

  • i have a pet one, very friendly birds

  • I have fed these birds before in California. Very beautiful creatures.

  • I love rainbow lorrikeets, but in WA, 'authorities treat them as vermin'. It always breaks my heart.

Migrants from Britain have a peculiar antipathy for Australian birdlife in my shire, and their collective protests often result in euthanasia using CO2 - this includes pink and greys, just a terrible response for 30 minutes of their beautiful singing on a warm summer evening.

  • Beautiful. I wish I had wild lories here. I have a pet goldies lorikeet.

  • Didn't their Mom tell them that'll ruin dinner? :)
