@elainesman i saw no punches even thrown. those were grab attempts and over head strike attempts. However the concepts demonstrated are very much applicable in real life situations which is why the tokyo metro police along with the riot police trains in both judo and aikido.

not ONE attacker makes a genuine attempt to punch the sensei. i'm sure you think they are, but be honest....they really aren't and the sensei knows this. NO strike worth a salt grain to avoid or absorb. how valid in realism is this then ??

This is maybe the best example of Aikido on youtube. Tamura Shinan's timing, maner of opponent engagement, economy and range of movment; combine to produce incredible power and energy.

Just a guess: Tamura sensei + rocks + sea => the coast of Brittany - France ? Every summer there's the Lesneven stage with Tamura in Brittany.
