@naturalidea Yes, there are definitely tradeoffs. It pains me a lot to see the environment get damaged. It's a tradeoff between providing higher standard of living to all the poor people in 3rd world countries and the environment.

The environment should be priced into the marketplace somehow, because I don't think the masses will realistically move towards local banking.

its not just about the "fishing community"...its about the environment and how destructive coal mining and processing does to the one planet we have. An explosive power the size of hiroshima bomb goes off in the appalachia mountains once a week dew to coal mining... That's my backyard... The destruction of mountains, ecosystems, communties, and all around LIFE for low cost power doesn't seem like the answer to a more productive and sustainable future.

So, this kid has a good heart. But, like most liberals doesn't know what he's doing.

A coal plant may disrupt fishing communities. But, it is also providing low-cost power which supports far more jobs to low-income people that the jobs it destroys. Low-cost power supports jobs in thousands of industries. Yes, the fishing community may be devastated, but higher paying jobs would become available in manufacturing, engineering, transportation, etc, etc....

now i dont want to seem a little bitch but umm wasnt this video a lil one sided... isnt this video seem like a nod in the direction of interaional banks like rememer those big asshole baks had to start small too ...consumer accountability is good but remeber not all bnk are so sustainable as the one being "totted"(or however you say it)

excellent video. remember though that it's not until a dollar has cycled through the banking system, bouncing around from bank to bank, being lent out over and over again that it will get multiplied 10x. If you withdrawal 1 dollar from boa, boa's lending power has been reduced by 90 cents, however if you don't redeposit that dollar in a bank, the entire banking systems ability to loan has been reduced by as much as 10 dollars.
