STEAMIN' AROUND - 2008 - MORAYSHIRE on the YDR

For the first time since 1975 the LNER 'D49/1' Morayshire left its home in Scotland to appear at the Yorkshire Dales Railway's Gala 20th-21st September 2008.

(OK - I saw it at Doncaster but it didn't move.)

No. 246 Morayshire was purchased by Ian Fraser and donated to the Royal Scottish Museum. It was restored to running condition and appeared at the Stockton & Darlington 150 celebrations, but spent much of the 1980s and 1990s in static condition. Morayshire returned back to running condition in 2005. She is currently located on the Bo'ness & Kinneil Railway, who also completed the restoration.

she's a brilliant loco to drive and fire hauled most of the service trains this summer with only a few minor setbacks
