Part of the clear beverage craze of the 90's Zima was a marketing ploy by Miller Coors LLC to cash in on a new beverage that could upstage the snooty girly image of wine coolers but still appeal to those that prefer such beverages to the taste of beer or hard liquor. Clearmalt Lemon-Lime tasting Zima was born and it did well for a while until it's image began to suffer because of the inability to schuck the "girly-drink" label and constant mocking by late night comedians and such. Eventually Zima Gold with the taste of bourbon would appear and disappear just as fast as it came. Before it was discontinued in 2008 three other flavors were introduced. Citrus, tangerine, and pineapple citrus.
I remember trying it once in college and not being impressed by it. It tasted like lemon-lime seltzer water. My friends tried to spice it up by soaking Jolly Ranchers in it to no avail.
