Once again I have applied to be a roommate at the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry. I also imagine my bicycle, the bicycle that went around the world, occupying a very important corner of my bedroom, along with some maps and photos. I considered my journey as an empirical study of the meaning of life. I had theory: If life means something, I should be able to find it somehow somewhere.

I can't express how much a dream it would be to live day and night for a month in the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry, and explore and report on all the amazing science, and, of course, being part of the experiment to see how this experience changes me and everyone I meet. I imagine it would be a great inspiration to people, just as my trip has already inspired so many people to live their dreams, like an 88 year old woman that decided to fly to Bhutan after reading my book.

I didn't have time to make a new video to emphasize my love for science. But the Chicago Sun Times liked this video enough to showcase it on their website during the last round.

  • How do you know you did not make it?

  • @redsun2002 That comment referred to the first MATM

  • @ScottyStoll Ah ok. Your using the same video for this one as well?

  • @redsun2002 Didn't have enough time to remake my video, even though I wanted to de-emphasize my trip and emphasize the adventure at the museum.

  • As a fellow MATM2 applicant, I'm shakin' in my boots, Scott.

Great story and best of luck!

  • @davesciwriter Good luck to you too.

  • @ScottyStoll Ah ok. Well good luck!

  • @ulfthegoon Wow! You've got me beat for the year. Yeah, if I thought about what I was doing too much I might never have done it. There are a couple chapters in my book about lions and being abducted. They make great stories now. But not sure if I'll be doing a sequel. LOL. Good luck on your adventures.

  • Hi Scott. I'm having a pretty good 2010 myself here. I'm closing in on 15K for this year and hope to end around 17...I have only virtually travelled the Americas this year but may virtually go for some more continents for 2011...Don't know if I could ever get the nerve to do the real thing.....Maybe if I live to be 80 when I'm such an old guy nobody would care to abduct me by then....but could at least be good lion's bate. Anyway, look forward to learning more about your adventures..

  • @semiller01 I'm glad you enjoyed the movies. Yep, especially those experiences you never imagined even possible.

I sure do hope to get my bike in the museum. It is an amazing work of art and science and tells one heck of a story all by itself.
