  • He was the announcer for Press Your Luck too, and he's Up There with his friend, PYL host Peter Tomarken.

  • I remember seeing this on that very day. That was a VERY hard pill to swallow for me! Rod was the best announcer after Johnny Olson passed on! All of his funny showcase appearances (Rod the Rapper, Rod the Doctor, etc) always made my day after a long day at school since I taped TPIR daily on my VCR! He was ALWAYS full of life! RIP Rod Roddy!

  • We in Buffalo will never forget Rod's days on the great WKBW during the mid 1960s.

  • @vfreeck It doesn't really surprise me any, as Barker was just about to become EP a year after Johnny O's passing, and Mark Goodson didn't get along with Barker after he became EP due to the way Barker wanted director Marc Breslow fired from the show!

  • @DENo1MatchGameFan Johnny Olson had even less time.

    So did Mark Goodson.

  • Rod Roddy was such an amazing announcer. He just had a voice you'd want to hear narrate your life and your day. Rod and Charlie O'Donnell are my all time favorite announcers. When I go to heaven, I want Rod or Charlie O to narrate my days.

  • @matthewb4433 Yes, he did. I remember hearing him in the Ray Combs run as a kid.

  • @1991ArielFan No, it is for the lame-assed tribute that Barker gave to Rod here - 18 seconds for 17 years of work on the show, I don't think so!

  • @matthewb4433 He did on a 1982 episode when he filled in for Gene Wood - it is here on YouTube.
