This is just a glimpse of my adventure on the Arizona / Utah border. A few days exploring that beautiful region around the city of Page Arizona.
The scenery there is just fantastic, as you will see from my images. Many experts say Antelope Canyon is the most photographed slot canyon in the world. After spending a few days there, I believe it.
Whether you are a Spiritual Freak, a Crystal Worshiper, a My-God-is-Better-Than-Your-God, a Yoga Rat, a Heartless Bastard or even a Republican...upon visiting this place you too will be personally moved.
Some of the areas I visited on this trip are Horseshoe Bend, Antelope Canyon both Upper and Lower canyon, Water Holes Canyon, Lake Powell etc...
Most of my images I made either just after sunrise or just before sunset, when the sun is low on the horizon and you get that perfect mix of shadows, contrast and red/orange glow. With the exception of the light beams inside the slot canyons. For those to appear you need to be there just around noon, when the sun is at it's peak. If you miss this short window, you will not see the so famous sun beams in these Canyons, so plan it accordingly and be patient.
Watch for storm clouds and look at the forecast before going! It may be sunny out but if there's rain a few miles out, you may be caught in a Flash Flood. A big group of people lost their lives there in the late 90's.
Any similarity with the recent movie 127 Hours is nothing but a coincidence. I actually haven't seen it yet, but I heard this video has many shots that is just like the movie.
Now get your butt off the couch and go plan a trip to see these slot Canyons. Don't get fooled by these footage, being there is something entirely different than just admiring photos of pretty rocks in the computer screen.

Alguns amigos me disseram que eu tentei copiar o filme 127 Horas. Bom, eu ainda nao vi o filme e o que segue e somente um relato da minha experiencia pessoal. Qualquer semelhanca com o filme do James Franco e mera coincidencia.
Espero que voces gostem das imagens, e se gostarem, deixem um comentario.

  • @geonerd Haters gonna hate.

  • @OnManhattan ...Thiago says: Thanks OnManhattan, for the support. Yeah, haters will be haters. That geonerd dude is 41 years old, has been a youtube member since 2006 and never posted a single video of his own. All his channel contains is copied work from other people. Sad. Very sad.

  • Hi,

    thanks for sharing this moments.

I was "almost" there in 2011 june, but I wanted to go there by myself, and I only found a tourist circuit which was mendatory to visit these canyons ... :(

Is there a way to access these canyons by yourself ? alone ?

I want to go back :)

    Thanks

  • Nicely done!
