Kyung-Wha Chung plays Wieniawski's Polonaise Brillante No.2, with her younger brother Myung-Whun Chung.

Filmed in 1968, shortly after her winning of Leventritt Competition. This is a rare document showing her playing before her sensational London debut in 1970.

  • She certainly knows how to get about the violin - if she could only

make music she would be formidable - as it is she's a bore .

  • @dziady1 @dziady1 blah blah blah... I see you left more less the same comments to other violinists' videos. Feel free to have your own oppinion, but honestly isn't a bit of bore to go on about the same lamenting - oh, all that sawing about, they don't know music, oh sad, whatever happened to young violinists!

By the way, Ms Chung is now over her 60 and still remains one of the best accomplished violinists. So talking about her musicality here is really balking at the wrong tree. Good day!

  • Her instrument sounds constipated, but still brilliant playing.

  • 'constipated' is a very creative expression there, but I'm sure it's simply because of the poor recording. It is Strad Harrison she's playing there, with which she recordred some of her early records on DECCA label too.

  • could you try to explain what you want to say by 'very korean' in your context? I wonder if you do know enough about the country and the people to characterize it that simple way.

  • So ends the era of Jews being the best classical musicians... damn. It was fun while it lasted Heifetz, Rubinstein, and Horowitz.

  • If all those recordings of high schools playing classical music would be as good as this, I would spend....2 hours listening to classical music. And by god is she good!!

  • @nobody112233445566 man. you stupid

  • I love her playing!!!!!!!!!!!! But I don't really like her dress, not that I'm supposed to focus on it. Anyways, bravo!!!!

  • @twofinedays yea polonaise no.1 is the famous one in d major with the memorable polonaistic repeated starting note etc etc

  • @wtfallnamestaken101 its just an old recording and her 'stiff'' movements

  • @Jasiek55555 yes sautille is amazingly difficult

  • Is that a table cloth she is wearing? It so reminds me of those shockers Kiri Te Kanawa from my country used to wear then in the 70s. People on her videos comment more on the dresses than her singing.

Still, with this great playing, anything can be forgiven! :)
