Bob Hope was not required to do these military shows. He was already very rich and popular as an exceptional comedian and entertainer. What he learned just before WW2, that the USA servicemen and women were the most grateful audiences of all, impressed him so much that he became one of them, in the best way that he knew how to help them. He put himself at risk and sacrificed his personal time out of love for the troops. For his worldwide efforts, for his honor, God allowed Hope to live to 100.

Was it ever? It may have been more subtle in days past. I have seen pentagrams where none should be in old movies. Even on a US plane (the star on the side was point down) landing on an aircraft carrier in the background of a shot of the star, Don Ameche. circa 1944

Saw two or three Bob Hope Shows will in Vietnam 1968 CHu Lai, 1969 DaNang and don't remember if 1970 in Phu Bai was Bob Hope or another USO Show.

Just watched it. I was 5 years old when they filmed. But went in the ARMY in 85!!

This made me cry at the end.

These sure were good people then. Hollywood is horrible now.

Saw Bob Hope perform in 1983 --- at 80 --- he was still amazing and funny and sharp as a tack then.

Bob Hope came to the Gulf for the first Gulf War and I got to see the whole show in Bahrain. He was a good man and it was pretty nice seeing the show.
