  • im thinking about buying a kayak and goin fishing on lake ontario for the big salmon and trout what test # should i get and what rods should i use for fishing salmon and trout

  • @TheFishermanJohn In the spring & fall you can flat-line in front of the river and harbor mouths where the trout and salmon will stage before running the rivers to spawn. You can use a medium-action rod with 10-12 lb. test when you are trolling for trout and a little heavier line (up to 14 lb. test when you troll for salmon)...God bless you, Italo

  • hello Italo ive been fishing the grand north of Paris and find that there is alot of Smallies!!!! For the most part the are not even 1/4 pounders. im using a pink jig head and white jig tail. Any suggestions on any other baits i could try?

    Tx Jer Bear

  • @JER420BEAR I suggest you try a Jointed #7 Rapala and a Vibrax #2 spinner or 4" plastic tub/1/8 oz. jighead. You may have to go to a single barbless hook in some stretches...God bless you, Italo

  • Do all the fishing kayaks at heritage have fish finders

  • @elemently I don't think any of them do. This was my personal "angler-series" Ocean Kayak that comes with a Humminbird 300 series sonar...God bless you, Italo

  • @chinglengvang You can get tip-guides that have a ceramic-insert. That ceramic insert is very hard and the line cannot wear a groove in it. On older rods, the tip-guides were made out of aluminum-oxide which is not very hard, so the line could wear a groove in it.....God bless you, Italo

  • is that the tip guide that has a hard plastic?!

  • @chinglengvang The grooves in your tip guide can really damage your monofilament line. I would really encourage you to change the tip to a ceramic-insert tip-guide....God bless you, Italo
