i know how you feel...i used to be a turntablist and i got on drugs and lost my way and i had a good set up for djing but now im about to recieve a roland r-8 and that should be sweet ay...keep in touch if you like and tell me what your working towards ...maybe you can give me some hints on rolands r8 r-8 r8...im starting to get that itch again for mostly hip hop

once again. mad norcal respect for this sound. I've been working in Live exclusively for awhile and wound up quitting... didn' tknow why. Still wanted to make sounds... then realized I had stripped away all my knobs and buttons!!! OMG, what did I do that for? So I'm rebuying equip now... lol. so simple, but it makes ALL the difference to creating music. Pure software bores me to tears. Don't mind abelton driving the midi, as that's just super dang useful. :) much respect to this sound. very good

The stuff you see posted is based on many units doing one thing each to make the sound. If I was gonna keep the studio type setup, I would strip it back to jomox 888 as a main drum box, a tb303, or futureretro 777 for bass. The schipmann filter and some FX unit and the JX-8p for pads and poly sounds. I like the roland 909 and 606 and 727 combo but the jomox pretty much covers it. For me it breaks down to drums, bass, pads, filter and FX. I like a bunch of gear but the above would do.

excellent songs! btw if you had too reduce your equipment to bare essentials, what would you keep?

I am about to travel with this setup: an elektron monomachine, a jomox xbase 888, and roland 303 and a small mackie mixer. The whole shebang fits into a pelican case. I might also pack the 606 and futureretro 777 if I can fit it in somewhere. For FX i'm gonna SKB 1/2 case the schipmann filter and a digitech 4 channel unit.

Boxes are cool software is cool, analog is awesome, modern synths are great too. Strange to admit after falling into the hardware so deep, I ended up fiddling with some synths in Live and thinking "ooh that sounds pretty good" haha!
