@mandrke2004 Did you miss the "no longer breathing" part? No one should have to live with the knowledge that a loved one drew their last breath at the hands of a person that now sits comfortably in prison, eats meals, watches TV and in some states even gets conjugal visits, oh yea and still gets to breathe too. You're right, the DP won't bring anyone back from the dead, but for the surviving family members, it can turn "no peace to "know peace". It's the inequity that causes the pain.

@tripleJ1955 As a matter of fact you wont find any peace in that either because even watching that killer die wont bring your loved one back. It might be a momentarily satisfaction but it certainly wont last. The day death penalty is gonna result in people to raise from the dead Im gonna be the biggest supporter of it. But while it doesnt work that way, costs a lot of money, doesnt do any better job at deterring crime, I dont see why we would want to have such an inefficient means of punishment.

You're a very complex girl Sarah. Your position on the death penalty doesn't align well with most of your other social views, but I digress.
Good for you on speaking your mind, I am a staunch supporter of capital punishment. If someone plans for and then takes the life of an innocent person, they deserve to be repaid in kind. If a murderer killed one of my loved ones, I wouldn't find any kind of peace until that person was no longer breathing either.

what if someone was framed multiple times? its highly unlikely, but just a thought.

I used to be against the death penalty, but you make a great argument. I am now in favor of it. You are certainly a brilliant girl. Thank you for setting me straight.

How come creationists always need to use metaphors?
It's actually humorous that you criticize this girl for indicating what she would class as "reformed" when you do EXACTLY the same thing by presuming that your bible is "the word of god"
This is of course assuming that you are a creationist, which I am forced to conclude based off your repulsively ignorant statement.
-
SO what is reformed? If life is just an accident, with no intended purpose, no intended design, who is to say what reformed is?
It is like if a factory blew up and something that looked like a machine of some sort was the result. You can't say "It is suppose to do this" because it DIDNT HAVE A DESIGNER. No foresight or thought went into creating it.
So how do you ultimately put yourself up or someone else up as the be all and end all, and push down people's throat what reform is?

The cost of incarcerating a prisoner for life is about $500,000 while the cost of executing them is about $2,000,000 thanks to the many appeals.
So yeah, it's the death penalty NOT the lack thereof that is an economic drain on society.
-
You said that the death penalty wasn't a deterrence then you said it would act as a deterrence for prisoners.
Isolation would act as more of a deterrence then a death threat that would take potentially decades to fulfill.

There is one, and one only reason I do not support the death penalty. Several people have been put to death, later found innocent... we cannot say this will not happen again.
I do support assisted suicide... and many people on death row actually want to die, but we drag it out.
If thats true, somebody wasn't doing their job. Just because innocents have been killed in the past doesn't mean that there's no way to set up a foolproof system, anyway. There are a lot of broken systems in the States.. thats all there is to it. That doesn't mean the whole idea is flawed.
