@Ellvito2 WHAT THE FUCK ??? Your statement is ignorant... Tar Sands !!!!!!

@tymacify Well I think that's exactly it: after a series of environmental disasters directly caused by corporate negligence, it's understandable why many will be concerned about the application of this process. However, I cannot understand how you can say the practice in itself is 'safe'; surely it's safety depends on the care and attention paid by the people carrying out the operation? And as I said, oil companies do not have the best track records in this area.

@cfreidma only in the US though...canada is much more enviromentally concious about our oil and gas industry

@kevinmatthewjones Although you are correct, I dont believe you are fully aware of how hydraulic fracturing is performed, and if you are, well, you need to be educated more on the topic. The water tables are nowhere near the pay zones that are being Frac'd. There has been some instances where the well has bad casing, and it has seaped up or just blown the casing away. Again, very rare. The practice of Hydraulic Fracturing is safe. Its the gov'ts that try to hide the rare mess, that are not safe.

@sapper994 Things do permeate, clearly. Testing has shown benzene and many other nasty chemicals from fracking in wells.
-
@SamsEditReel Its not construction grade cement, firstly, but the casing is made of high carbon steel which is impermeable.

@tymacify Erm, why don't you make a video allaying these valid concerns, instead of shooting your mouth off in the comments section? It makes sense that the high pressure injection of carcinogenic materials into the ground could prove a danger by contaminating water systems and ground soil. These are important factors which are being evaded by the companies and authorities who are promoting fracking, who instead appeal to short term economic gain and don't answer these valid concerns

Great video, clear explanation, thanks for posting.

@worldpeace2u Why sue the Service companies? The Oil companies they work for are the ones that pick the pay zone. Not the Service companies. The blame does not fall on the companies that provide the Frac jobs. They do not go out and intend to hurt the enviroment, or damage water tables. I have been a Frac'r for 18 years now, and I have yet to see the kinds of enviromental damage so many speak of. Of course, I do my Frac jobs in Canada, where we have rules in place. Unlike the USA.

Just a totally brutal explanation...no wonder Hydraulic Fracturing has such a bad name. Idiots like this spewing off about shit they know nothing about. Hey, lets blame global warming on Hydraulic Fracturing as well. Seems legit....do your homework, then lets hear it again. Better get used to it people, its not going anywhere...
If fracking is so harmless, then why is fracking exempt from the environmental laws, such as clean water act, clean air act, right to know act. This is just another short sighted get rich scheme with goverment collusion. The companies and the government have no accountibility to what they are doing to people and how the impact on the environment. They take their money and then the people have to deal with the mess they leave behind. I wish more people actually cared about the environment.
