Sea Turtles are turtles found in all the world's oceans. There are seven living species of sea turtles: flatback, green sea turtle, Hawksbill, Kemp's Ridley, Leatherback, Loggerhead and Olive Ridley.
The Olive Ridleys follow a set Nesting behavior. Females usually nest during the warmest months of the year & they return to the same nesting beach each year. Females may nest every two to three years.
March 2009 saw thousands of Olive Ridley Turtles making their annual journey to the Gahirmatha Marine Sanctuary in Orissa for laying eggs. Contrary to Greenpeace campaign against Tata, Tata Dhamra Project dredging activities in the nearby Dhamra port, away from the nesting area has not affected the migration of these rare species in any ways.
