Wondering what DynaMesh is all about? I thought I would chip in and show it to you from my eyes. Its complete and absolute freedom to sculpt what you want free of topological concerns.

Hope you enjoy.

  • One thing about Dynamesh is that it divides the mesh equally all over. This means that if you have a lot of detail needs on one area and not on other areas of the mesh, efficiency is lost.

  • @GnaReffotsirk Efficiency is in the eye of the beholder, no? For me this is incredibly efficient for the sculpting stage where the design is still in flux. Once its no longer in flux, I absolutely agree its time to consider the redistribution of polygons.

  • Hey Ryan, thanks for the tips, I haven't exactly found out how to use the dynamesh exactly like in the video preview shown by pixologic, soooo thanks !

    That, and you're awesome :o

  • @azrael974 Glad to be useful. :)

  • "It is a system that LIBERATES you!" haha great quote,

    thanks for explaining this man

  • @NOrthernLight13 I can hear Mel Gibson screaming "Freedom!" as he is eviscerated by polygon shaped people...

  • ryan is the man dot com

  • Great video, great explanations and a nice voice which isn't a creaky, monotone mess. Thanks!

  • @Seiferzed (just adding, all the previous topology is visually stuck where it was - editable, but you can't see it).

Just now, i somehow fixed it, and the only remotely meaningful thing i remember doing was to turn the Topology -> Edit Topology button on, off, and on again. Tried editing again just say i'd tried, and boom - it worked. I've also read something about turning the edit topo button off before saving, but i haven't tried it yet.

Maybe it'll be useful to know.

  • @kblargh i actually fixed it , but i don't know if its the real solution for it .. maybe i was the one who ruined it in the first place by playing with preferences options :P , you have to go to preferences -> draw and play with back or front opacity sliders , lowering them will start making those lines and vertices visible , i realize more and more every day that learning all options will solve more problems even if those options seem to be not as important as you need them to be .

  • @Seiferzed I've a similar problem. Started editing topology on a model, had to take a few days off, when i came back, the topology was still there but every vertex or edge i'd make after was simply invisible. It's not the first time it happens either. It's quite maddening.

  • One of the coolest things to come out since zbrush itself.
