Questions
1. Transportation and Land Use - Joel Ramos, Transform
As Mayor, what would you do to improve Oakland's transportation and land use policies to reduce pollution while improving the quality of life and access for all Oaklanders? How can these policies both address existing environmental inequalities and allow low income communities in the flatlands including Oaklands immigrants to stay in their homes with affordability?

2. Renewable Energy - Colin Miller, Urban Habitat
Community Choice Energy is a community-driven clean power purchasing program. What is your opinion on community choice energy as a community development strategy to reduce pollution and provide quality green jobs for Oakland residents - especially those hit hardest by the effects of pollution?

3. Food and Water - Silvia Lopez, Mujeras Unidas y Activas
The City of Oakland has made a commitment to increasing local food production to meet 30% of the City's needs. As mayor, what would you do to ensure that low-income communities have the resources to grow their own food and secure water?

4. Adaptation - Cassandra Martin, West Oakland Environmental Indicators Project
We know that some degree of climate change is now unavoidable and will have impacts that could include more frequent and intense floods, heat waves, and fires. How should the City and its residents begin preparing for the impacts of climate change? In particular, how should Oakland's most vulnerable communities be protected and involved in the planning process?

5. Port of Oakland -Manuel Rivas, Port of Oakland Truck Driver
The Port of Oakland is a large source of greenhouse gas pollution contributing to high rates of asthma and cancer in West and East Oakland. This pollution affects both community residents and workers. As Mayor, what would you do to clean up the port without placing the burden on low-income truck drivers?

6. Jobs and Implementation - Miya Yoshitani, Asian Pacific Environmental Network
In order to implement the goals and policies in Oakland's Energy and Climate Action Plan, the City will need clear standards as well as regular reporting and monitoring measures. The OCAC has proposed the creation of an Energy and Climate Action Plan Commission, an appointed body charged with ensuring the implementation of the city's plan, especially in ways that create training and
family-supporting jobs that include access for Oakland's immigrant populations. As Mayor, what would you do to ensure strong implementation and accountability?
