Originally presented at the Houston Maritime Museum on February 16, 2012.

Walter Hansen, a conservator working with the Holocaust Museum Houston to preserve the Hanne Frank, a 1942 Danish fishing boat, will tell the heroic story of a three-week period in 1943 when Christian fishermen in Denmark risked their own lives to ferry more than 7,200 Jews to safety in Sweden.
The Hanne Frank was acquired by HMH in 2007, and has since begun to deteriorate in the Houston humidity. In addition to explaining the significance of this rare artifact, Hansen will discuss the techniques he plans to use to repair and preserve it.
The boat is currently on display at the Holocaust Museum Houston, next to a railcar used to transport Jews to concentration camps.
