www.traditional-jazz.com. The Jonathan Graham / Dave Parker Quartet with James Evans & John Petters. Filmed at Long Sutton, Lincs on Wednesday 19th February 2009
Thank you. Yes it was taking the place of the bass. This was common in the '20s and of course in the New Orleans Brass bands. This was a recording session we did for a new CD. Jonathan expanded the role of the tuba and got Dave to play melodic lines with James, although that is not evident on this video.Keep swinging John
I great video, I have to admit, I have never seen jazz tuba before. Was it taking the place for a bass? If so then it would be consider doing just chords if I right. Keep on playing and I will keep on watching.
