Gabby Hayes was retired from show biz, and lived in Long Island NY. Then the market crashed, and he lost everthing, and had to go back to work.

Comedy/Mystery. The first 10 minutes or so are pretty boring; but it gets better when they get in the house.
See if you can pick out George "Gabby" Hayes before he became Gabby. Hint: he has very thick hair and is quite handsome. Verna Hillie plays the pretty blond, she made at least two pictures with John Wayne, two with Gabby, and a high-dollar serial with Ken Maynard.
