When tying a rope horse halter, approach the horse slowly and calmly, loop the nose piece over the horse's nose in the proper position and pull the strap over the top of the animal's head to secure it. Tie a rope halter onto a horse with advice from a riding instructor in this video on equestrian living.

  • wrong wrong wrong... this is teaching the totally wrong way to tie a knot!

  • You have it wrong if you tie it like that it slides lose you need to pass the rope around the loop underneath not on the ropes on the top then it stays steadfast.

  • @usandpets I agree, she did it opposite the way I've always been taught, and teach my kids - Thru the loop and around ITSELF. Tie the Post not the Wire:)

  • You should tie the not below the loop that it goes thru. If the horse should pull back, the knot would tighten and you will have a hard time getting it undone. With it tied below the loop, you just need to move the loop up and the knot will loosen.
