THE LYRICS AND THE TRANSLATION ARE NOT PART OF THE VIDEO, THEY ARE ANNOTATIONS SO BE SURE TO HAVE THEM ENABLED WHEN WATCHING THE VIDEO

The Diva opera performance featured music from Gaetano Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor "Il dolce suono", the mad scene of Act III, Scene I and it was voiced by the Albanian soprano Inva Mula-Tchako, while the role of Plavalaguna (the Diva) was played by the French actress Maïwenn Le Besco.

Ah nemici!
Un gelo mi serpeggia nel sen!
Trema ogni fibra!
Vacilla il piè!
Presso la fonte meco t'assidi alquanto.
Si, presso la fonte meco t'assidi.

Lyrics (English):

The sweet sound of his voice struck me!
Oh, that voice
Has entered my heart!
Edgardo! I am given back to you. Edgardo!
Oh! My Edgardo!
I have escaped from your enemies.
Oh your enemies!
A chill creeps into my breast!
Every fibre trembles!
My foot falters!
Sit down by the fountain with me for a while.
Sit down by the fountain with me.

Thanks for watching.

  • thanko! :)

  • mul-ti-pass

  • i always think she looks like a cross between Alien, Marge Simpsons and a Borg drone

  • The stones....the stones..are in me...

  • magnificient !!!!!!!!!!

  • @OdinsLoaf I see. The story you imagined is very romantic indeed and beautiful in its own way. I just thought you might be interested in the other one as well in the original story as the music just because there is so much more beautiful music there. I dare you to listen to the sextet from this same opera here and tell me if you don't think it's beautiful music: /watch?v=NXXznEindPg (no titles, so you are free to imagine stuff)

  • @jewelmarkess Well then excuse me for wrongly calling you out for being a well-it-is-actually :P but to my ears, music always comes from the place where it resonates loudest. So when I hear tunes that may mean something, the notes chime in a thought of my own. I am always so bad at following the greats of the past no matter how much I am influenced by their work. I watched it and thank you for sharing, but imagine for a moment what I had pictured?

  • Wow, I don't usually like opera but this is wonderful. It made me shiver and it's 39 degrees Celsius outside!

  • @OdinsLoaf Yes, I missed the part. But I wasn't trying to be a know-it-all or impress anybody. I like opera and feel sad that most people today don't get any exposure to it. I just thought someone who likes this music might be interested that there is more to it then what is here. There is a lot more beautiful music in Lucia di Lammermoor than just this part, so shoot me for trying to share it.

  • @jewelmarkess I think you missed the part where I said imagined :3 but thanks, now I can be a know it all too! Woooo, I shall crush all with my boundless knowledge of STUFF!
