A lot to be Gay Proud of.

This was Pride Weekend in San Francisco. I peered behind the curtain of corporate vendors to find folks sharing their stories and talking to people about the issues that affect our lives and our communities.

Think it sucks that Obama followers are trying to ride on the coat tails of our hard worked for Pride accomplishments to get more votes, when Chicago LGBT have a web site touting how Obama is the only politician in Chicago who has consistently refused to attend his own local Pride events.

Google - Chicago LGBT Obama - and you will see what his own local LGBT community thinks of Obaman and his stance on gay rights and his complete lack of understanding of what our Pride is all about.

Thanks for this. You're right - Obama has avoided LGBT events and leaders, and he's refused (except on a couple occastions) to speak to our media. He's trying to get elected, but it's still homophobia.

On the other hand, he's for the complete repeal of DOMA and supports legislation on hate crimes and employment discrimination. And even tho he says he's only for civil unions, he did come out against California Prop 8, which would amend the state's Constitution to ban same-sex marriage.

Thank you castrointhestreets. I am glad you pointed out that these corporate sponsors only care 1 or 2 days a year. I have 2 friends that are on the parade committee, I voiced the same thing once. Sadly, this is a huge event to produce, and corporate dollars are a way to get it done. With same-gender marriage now an option, many of these corporations will see the $ to be had. I know this a cynical view to take, but it is true. This was the BEST Pride event in years!
