Banned would be prohibited, and even then some people can own prohibited firearms if they have a prohibited class POL/FAC. "Grandfathered" firearms mostly..when the go and made X legal firearm illegal, but let those that already had them keep them...like handguns with short barrels etc.

Restricteds are easy to get, just take the restricted firearms class along with the non restricted one. Then join a gun club..any club OR claim youre a "collector" (take a test). Its EZ.

@CanadianReich Last time I read up on Canadian shitty gun laws, the M4 / Ar-15 rifles were banned. I've been in love with the ar-15 for years now, the semi automatic version is banned in canada so I have read.

How might one get a restricted weapons license? Is it a long process?

I agree with you, criminals own guns, so should civilians. Who is more dangerous; A working class white man with a remington 870 used to protect his family or a group of blacks with m9 pistols?
