As a languages student I'd love to see how the translators managed this scene without going completely insane!

I named my cat Spot after this Ode. He just passed away in the vet due to a medical complication after his surgery.

I am sorry to hear that. I can sympathize with you... I lost my dog Maxwell on October 20th 2010 and I can still remember all of it. The best thing I can share to do is to get a picture of your Spot and go to walmart and have them make a giant 11x18 of it or something like that. That was very therapudic for me.

Hang the frame somewhere in the open, in your living room or something like that. Always keep in the back of your head the most awesome, funniest, and weirdest things Spot did and when people come over and see Spot's picture, like with my Maxwell, tell them, thats how they live on; example: "Interesting you should point that picture out, ever here of a dog that could play the piano? Funny story, wanna hear about it?" etc.

I get a kick out of Picard's reactions being considerate every time.

That's right. The fact that the rhyming is so complex means it's incredibly difficult to translate and stay faithful to the original. For example, the rhyming couplet "nomenclature" and "nature" is highly obscure, and even it did rhyme in whatever language you translate it into, it still needs to fit with the rhythm of the poem. Fascinating stuff!

I am curious, are you referencing translators for broadcasts in other languages? Though language is not my main scholastic pursuit, it is a minor interest of mine. Anything you may wish to add would be most appreciated.
