Christina Harbridge - an EO'er from SF asked - "What are the top 3 crushing (universal) problems facing an executive team?" - this is my stab at an answer.
A good way to get email under control is to schedule 3 or 4 times per day to check it. Then action each email to keep your inbox at zero.
By actioning you can either - reply if it's quick, file in your calendar for later or add to your task list if it needs more time to respond. Do this and people will stop expecting you to reply asap to email and will result in better planning and higher quality of email. Not just "hey, what did you think of xyz?"
It would be helpful to see a talk on Connectivity vs. Productivity. It seems intuitive that these compliment each other but we all know that it's not always the case. Maybe they should start teaching time/communication management in school? I'm meeting a lot of grads that can't look up from their screen and that includes times when they're missing opportunities to connect with the mavens in their midst.
I definitely agree and see a lack of vision and focus which is the problem in government as well. Email is junk and waist producing time and fails miserably at communicating which is the purpose.
