I just discovered mold and water damage in my bathroom. I`m not sure how it happened, but you described the feeling and reaction to a T. I want to make lemonade, but if my home owners insurance does`nt pay, I might be drinking doo-doo water instead.

Thank you for this. I'm getting ready to start a similar (but smaller) project in my living room and laundry room. My chimney has leaked and damaged the drywall on my cathedral ceilings. I know the feeling... you want to cover it up and pretend there's no damage. But you're right... the problem is not going away. Just tear it out and redo it! Thanks for your video. :-) Did you have black mold?

Thankfully there was not much black mold at all. Just a little had begun growing in the very corner behind the drywall where the moisture exposure was greatest. I think the hardest part about the whole project was coming to terms with having to tear out the room! Once that was done everything was very manageable.
