can i still use the regular iShowU on my macbook pro and record high quality videos for youtube?
cuz i still have the version 1.69

You can, but iShowU HD will perform better. I'd spend the $9.95 and upgrade to HD when possible.

If you can't afford something like Final Cut and you want decent looking videos, then I'd agree with you. But if you fit into either category a) you just want to record your screen to show people stuff or b) you want to professionally do screencasts, then I'd say iShowU HD/HD Pro is the best (HD because of its price, HD Pro because of its integration with Final Cut Express/Pro).
