Critically acclaimed director of the documentary Shark Water is on Saipan to shoot another film and garner support for the shark fin bill.
Governor Fitial is set to sign the bill that bans shark finning into law despite opposition from WESTPAC. KSPN's Liz Wahl reports.
Scientists from the fisheries hey! Sounds like a conflict of interest to me. Fisheries paying "thier" scientists and we're expected to beliveve morons like that Kitty thing from Westpac that shark numbers are fine.
Hey Kitty- don't treat us with the same contempt you treat nature!
We know the real truth. Stop killing our sharks!!!

She has no idea what she is talking about. There are few, if any, sustainable shark fisheries anymore. As top predators, sharks are slow to reproduce and bear few young. Think about it. If lions outnumbered antelopes, there would be a crisis on the Serengeti. Sharks are the lions of the sea. Their numbers are always small compared to the numbers of their prey.
Shark populations have declined to the point of emergency. Guam is doing the right thing by protecting sharks. Boycott shark products!

I'd like to see the research Westpac put into their studies on sharks & how they confirm this information. As a diver, I know first hand there are far less sharks than used to be. There is countless hours of tracking and observing and years of reseach put into understanding sharks, how they reproduce, how often, and the declining health of reefs where sharks numbers have been decimated...the health of the entire eco system suffers anywhere where sharks numbers have been wiped out.
