Clowes is performing a traditional viking ritual. Organizators of the Copenhagen Comics Festival keep the iron Batman and
Robin use to smooth their capes (Batman and Robin are in fact two famous danish DJs who dress in superhero costume at the Festival).

Since immemorial time that iron is signed by every guest artist that comes to the Festival in order to invest it with totemic power. After being signed by Frank Quitely, Don Rosa (signature next to Clowes'), Charles Burns and Chris Ware it's Clowes' turn. After this event, Batman and Robin's iron has become Copenhaguen most famous symbol after the Little Mermaid. It's kept inside a kryptonite-proof adamantium safe until the next Festival.
