those MazdaUSA guys are a bunch of idiots, probably on Fords payroll and sabotaged the MS6 with super shitty short gearing... wtf the engine makes tremendouns midrange power, but is geared like a torqueless honda
-
Ive also got a speed 6 but I think if the gears were a little bit longer, the car would hit 60 and the 1/4 mile much faster. Having to shift 3 times to hit 60 and unspool / drop boost slows the car down no matter how fast you shift. Yeah you fly through 1st gear super fast but you lose that edge as soon as you have to shift.

I heard the 07 has shorter gears than the 06 but i cant remember exactly what site I saw that on

alrighty i agree with everyoneee about the gears being to short...however..i just bought an accessport..and installed launch control and flat foot shifting..and now i hold boost through EVERY gear...best moddification yet...invest in one hahah

love everything about this video.. great first vid.. great music.. great editing.. love the way you sync'd the music with the pics and the pull video.. love the car too.. i have a ms3 gen2 myself :)

so true I have one too! Stage 2 clutch here I come..
-
i love this car!!!

you dont loose boost but you lose parts as they fall off your car :). Bad idea to powershift without wotbox or cobb AP flat foot shifting.
-
thats why you power shift so u wont loose any boost
wtf...100mph in 5th gear??? not good

I start in 2nd, make two shifts and get to 100 in 4th gear. At the track I have had 4th up to about 104 before fuel cut. I think you're forgetting that this is a 6 speed with taller final drive in 5th and 6th. Rev limited top speed in 6th is theoretically about 170

you're exactly right...production and release of the US version was months late because theMazdaUSA operations director wanted shorter gears at the last minute

does the fmic and exhaust enable the car to withstand the deadboost after 5800rpm? i would figure you would need more than that to stay at 15.6 after 5800rpm

I think the main problem is that the throttle plate starts closing around 5800...gotta crack the ecu! lol
The FMIC, for whatever reason, has seemed to help the car feel less asthmatic past 6k, but I wont have a dyno to verify until next week. I'll probably post a vid of my pulls on Tuesday or Wednesday
