http://www.excaliburcrossbow.com : At Excalibur, we only use recurve limbs on our hunting crossbows, and for some pretty good reasons. Recurve limb crossbows are lighter than compound crossbows, making them easier to carry in the field. Recurve limb crossbows also have fewer moving parts, ensuring maximum reliability and simple maintenance. It all adds up to more time hunting and less time waiting for warranty parts.

you should not hunt with crossbow if you have the oportunity to hunt with guns... a gun kills a lot faster which is not so stressful for an animal...

Have you had both or just experienced compound? I have both, and maintenance doesn't go far when you drop your crossbow out of a tree when you're hunting your little rabbits, or your fat friend backs up and stomps on the cams, or a million other possibilities. Why worry that fragile aspect in comparison? maintenance all you want, you're not "above" having something happen to it on accident, no one is. Love my compound, too, but if my recurve were my compound, it would be in 20 pieces a year ago

i never had any problem with my compound bow ... i maintenance it like i should
its a dream of a hunting crossbow
i only use it for pheasants and rabbits , crossbow hunting for big game is inhumane
