I picked up this '86 Chevette from a friend of mine for $50. He said it ran quite poorly and was a pain to drive. Really...?

The only thing I've done to this car so far is clean the junk out of it. Mechanically, I have yet to touch it. There are a couple of minor issues with it, such as the door not closing properly and the broken door handle. Other than that, it works great!

  • did ya fix up the car.....and how is it now.....

  • @metroperson I did the brakes (all four corners), cleaned the interior, and gave it a tune up (plugs, wires, cap, rotor, etc), but I could never it run quite right - was always hesitant to rev for some reason - even after taking it to a shop for a carb adjustment and checking the timing. At the end of the winter, I sold the car (for $150!)

  • @cg8888 so sorry to hear it didnt run right

  • @metroperson Can't really argue for $50. I've towed home cars I've paid more for. :)

  • 2:03 The question of the day is.. What's the scotch tape for? lol

  • @senseit2007 Wrapping presents? Not too sure. Wish I knew it was there when putting the temp permits up. :)

  • this was my first car when i was 16 i got mine for 80$ and i remeber getting so high from all the gas fumes.... thanks for the great memories

  • she needs tires & a rollbar ...& off to u go to do the infamous Chevette ice-racing . i'm envious.

  • all chevettes seem to do the ignition thing....my 2 chevettes did that.

  • maybe you needed a new efe grid

  • They see me rollin... They hatin.

  • My 69 Camaro does that with the ignition all of the time, sometimes I'll take a sharp curve and the key falls out. I believe this was common on GM cars from 1967-1985.

  • Looks like Pontiac T-1000 Tailights.

  • So Max Headroom had a Chevette?

  • Replace all the bad parts with newer ones, fix it up a bit, new paint job, drop a new chevy 4 cylinder in it, and there you go.
