Maybe it's just because I'm old but I remember when hardcore had it's own identity; hardcore sounded like hardcore and hardcore kids looked like hardcore kids. They didn't try to sound like ministry/slayer hybrids and dress like hipster, math rock dudes. That's just my opinion. The music sounds interesting, it's just really different from what my two older siblings & I called hardcore when we were teens. But, that was over 20 years ago.
