@rankingtrevor this film was writen and directed by the super gary oldman, its based on oldmans life growing up in southeast london....fantastic writing by gary and fantastic acting by ray

It is one of the best scenes in the whole movie along with the domestic abuse scene. Ray's character actually explains WHY he is a monster, his own fathers failure to be there for him. I found myself having an ounce of sympathy for him. Ray Winestone is a brilliant actor, one of the few last terrific cockney screen actors in the UK scene.
