I love that point because so many people i talk to about it just don't get it. We take all our anger out on murderers and violent criminals and call it a justice system instead of examining the problems and listening to what they have to say so we can fix the problems and constantly be learning. We've been conditioned to choose ignorance over learning but then we wonder why everything gets worse. We're the only species that kills its own for pleasure. Ignorance is the root of all our violence.

It's not a natural impulse. And remember in a resource-based world Peter talks about in Zeitgeist Addendum nobody will need to take anyone lunch because they'll have their own.

Then again maybe Freud wasn't totally right. Tell me which mum will the little African boy raised by three different women be attracted to (or any polygamous man's child for that matter) or what penis envy will a lesbian girl develop. My point is, you shouldn't give up or not enter the ZM for that issue, to which you give too much importance to, I think that these types of issues will have a way of solving themselves. Why would a technician do any harm to anyone anyway ?

The point he's making around five minutes about retribution is right on spot. The society has failed to recognize that the threat of lifelong emprisonment or even the death penalty has never really provided the world with a solution to reduce or even suppress criminal behaviour : a quick glance at crime indices shows just that.
