"Access Soapbox" is a 30 minute-TV-show which was monthly televised on MCTV, Midland Community Television, Midland, Michigan in the late 90's. The program invited people in the community to come to the TV station to share anything like information about events and activities, political opinions and religious views in a 5- minute-spot for each person and group. Angry people who complained about the city government frequented the show. The show was produced by a public producer who lived in Midland. I used to be employed by MCTV as an intern and production assistant, and I made this show open for the producer. I shot probably 70 to 80 percent of the shots in this project including the elderly male model at the podium and time-lapse video of the streets and used some archive footage at MCTV such as the "Ku Klux Klan" rally and Jack Kevorkian visiting the town. At that time, MCTV did not own a non-liner editing system, so I edited this video in a reel to reel editing system and switcher for dissolve transitions and superimposed layering effects.
Wow. Well paced, snappy, and to the point. Great job, Katsumi. And, I too really enjoyed -- "the sped up footage up to the guy's eye right at the beginning" -- !!!
