12-1-09 Aina Haina SD-10A

SD-10A recorded in Aina Haina Park/Nehu Field near Aina Haina Elementary School. I've recorded this one already, but I wanted to get it from a distance for an ambient effect. Siren was approximately 485 feet from my recording location. You may even hear the Niu Valley STL-10A siren, which is 1.4 miles away from this SD-10. Pretty much all the birds in the field took off when it sounded.

How come American Signal gets by with creating sirens that sound exactly the same as Federal's SD-10 and yet Sarino has to be punished by Dick (head) Burna and the Benulux nations just because Hello Kitty looks simalur to Miffy BUT NOT EXACTLY 100% LIKE MIFFY?!!!

Vastly different target markets and intended product audience you bring up there... In my opinion, unlike the THX "Deep Note" intro sound or even the exhaust note on a Harley-Davidson, a siren's tone would not be worth a company's time and resources to craft and file trademark as an artistic creation.

Great video. I really like the SD-10. There are quite a few of these in Cincinnati. The Colerain Elementary SD-10 down the road from me got replaced by a T-128 a few years back. :(
