"Zachfasion" is so right, there is so much buddy rich influence in this solo--especially in part 1!! I remember watching buddy rich for the first time. It was that so that he played on the Jerry Lewis show. I saw it here on YouTube. I never seen anyone play like that! Then I Discovered Dave and vinnie!
Buy in this solo, I see Dave mastered all of Buddy's techniques! There is also a little Steve Gad tag in there too in part 1. Dave is a master drummer!
@stirfinan1 I have to agree. I've listened to this solo (part 1 + 2) many times now, and it surpasses all the others IMHO -- even those by DW himself (eg. DW Drumtek 2006, DW Got A Match? part 2, etc.). It shows such an unfathomly deep, musical understanding! He really makes the drums SING in this solo.
Almost unbelievable that at 1.37 Dave made an adjustment to the splash cymbal that was imperceptible, whilst playing at a simply incredible level of technical and musical prowess.
I cannot think of any drummer curently who can live with this man.
He is quite possiblly the best drummer of all time !!!!!!!!!
I keep coming back to this solo!! This might be my favorite solo ever!! Its like everything you ever wanted as a drummer,is here!! And the crazy thing is,the more I hear it the better I like it,because it is like listening to a great tune, that you never get tired of!! This really is Music and Storytelling at its highest level!! Just like a great Miles tune,or Monk tune!! Incredible improvisational skills, and the ideas flow one after the other,in such an effortless way! Master of his craft.

Dave's super fast single strokes with ONE HAND are insanely awesome. Wow. He's a bad man.

If you think this "part 2" is good, you *must* see "part 1". Enjoy! :-)
