    Because professional ballet dancers wear them out, ALOT. They do all that horrid stuff to them for a reason. It's called breaking in, so you can decently go en pointe in them, your foot arch is visible, whatnot. If you've never felt pointe shoes before, they're hard as solid wood. You also have to sew your own ribbons on, which can be a pain for those no good at threads and stitches. Once you dance on them for awhile, they get soft and don't offer as much support. Hope I helped! :)

    imagine the science into ballet. while an older person is heavier than a younger person, an older person has more weight put onto her toes which stresses her toes into deformalty while a younger person has less weight on her toes while she is pointing putting her whole weight onto one foot, her feet becomes less deformed than a grown women, with weaker bones, having her whole weight put onto her toes.:)use your intelligence to do good and not evil.
