  • hi um i was wondering if you could help me in some tips on how to take off the front fan i can't get it out .. i need to clean it ( it's very dusty) but i dont seem to know how , can you please advice? or someone who knows please respond , thank you in advance and very cool mod you did to your xblade.

  • @dgo401

Is you case a X-Blade? If so, you need to remove the front bezel. This will give you access to the front of the chassis and the screws that hold the fan in place. The bezel is pretty easy to remove. Work your fingernails behind the bezel at the top and pull it away from the chassis. Just be careful not to snap any of the 6 nubs that pop into the holes in the chassis as you do so. You might also want to check before you tug that the bezel is not screwed into the chassis. Mine wasn't.

  • omg dude thats a very good mod ... I seriously wish I could have gotten that fan for 5$ too id pull my case apart and do this mod on the second :)

So ill seriously look for a fan like that dude!! right now i just removed the plexiglass cover on my xblade and i found there actually is less dust because the air is moving and the dust dosnt get trapped where the fan intakes before, but having an open case isnt the quietest way I should run my rig right now..

  • @486dx50 I know Performance-PCs carries them. They have several models and sizes. That's assuming you live in the US because otherwise they charge absurd shipping charges.

  • u sould just buy a cooler master cosmos S or atcs 840 or 800d but amazing modding man keep up all your good vids

  • @schneider1492 So in effect, you'd be building a rectangular bezel that fits around your cooler and encloses the fan at the same time. Ideally you'd mount the cooler to the bezel and mount the bezel to the side panel. Bare in mind also that the fan housing is as thick as the fan itself so your fan would be sitting flat against your cooler, unless you somehow extend the fan housing wall to act as a shroud.

Keep me informed on your progress. I'm curious to see how it comes out.

  • @schneider1492 The only way i think you'll be able to do what you're describing is if you mount the cooler outside of your case in which case the bezel will be obselete. You would mount the fan flat against your side panel (with the mounting brackets of the fan housing inside of your case.) The fan housing will stick out about 6/8" outside of your case. Then you'd need to mount your cooler over the fan.

  • @schneider1492 The fan housing sticks out 7/8 of an inch inside the case. The pegs themselves are 10/16" but remember that I trimmed mine down a bit. You'd have to look over the video to see how much I trimmed them down. I think it was a few mm. Of course, this is assuming that the peg size is standard for all those fan kits.

  • how far does this fan sit inside the surface it is mounted to? how thick are the four tabs? i was thinking of using one of these on the other side of my case but i thought the bezel was thicker and it mostly stuck outside. i was going to pair this with a 250mmx260mmx10mm transmission cooler for my next rig, but i only have 11mm to work with for thickness. maybe i could mount it outside the case and make a new bezel. how thick are the four tabs

  • Hey thanks man, much appreciated.
