I was just passing on the way to a Edinburgh Festival show when I came acorss the Funeral of former British Foreigh Sectretary Robin Cook in 2005. I captured the moment his hearse departed St Giles Cathedral on film and like Diana's Funeral seven years earlier, the crowd burst into enthusiastic applause.

BBC report on the Funeral:

  • Cook wasn't cremated.. he was buried after his death..

  • I think it (the clapping) is something that started with Princess Dianna's funeral (?) challange the system and you soon find yourself in a coffin being clapped off to the grave! (He spoke out about the Iraq war and said there was no "Al Quada" (it means "database") she stood up against the arms industry (land mines) neither of them lasted long after these remarks/actions!

  • I was wondering, are they clapping because he is at peace or he is finally on his way to his way to the grounds where he will RIP?
