  • yeah, they're quite a bit further apart today. so because of that, almost all the skills are different. which is a shame, because they could do some really gorgeous moves with the bars the way they were.

now it's less about elegance and grace, and much more about power. which is cool too, but ya know.. it takes away from the artistic aspect of it.

  • Uneven bars was so interesting back when they were close enough together for the bars to be used equally.

    The routines were so creative.

  • I like her release move, but since its only a C value, no one ever performas it. Czechoslovakia basically forced vera into an early retirement from gymnastics, but she is by no means dead

  • basically copied Doris Brause's routine

  • She´s still alive ;)

  • is she dead

  • wow! when u look back and compare gymnastics than and gymnasticsnow, things have changed A LOT!

  • I really love the old bars. I enjoy today's uneven bars, but it seems as if by moving them apart, the point of having two bars dissolved. The low bar seems to be just a hassle for gymnasts now.

  • @boodiba I thought the exact same thing! In all the other events, I like the modern style better, but in uneven bars, I love them both.

  • Vera got married in Mexico City at the Catholic Catedral Chruch right after the Gymnastic events was completed. I know this because I was there!

  • it's not seven feet at the base. but if you stretched out with your hands on the high bar and you feet on the lowbar (or, you know.. if that's the direction you're measuring) then yeah, i'd say maybe around five and a half to six feet, but probably not seven. that's why some girls have to be so careful about hitting their toes.

  • Four feet? I'd say a good seven feet.
