How is that funny! The reason that elephant is doing that is probably because of its lack of stimulation.Its doing this because its bored and fed up of being in that place and has nothing better to do.Maybe if it was walking 20 miles a day with other elephants, and having fun it would be enjoying itself. Thats no happy creature.

I think this is damn funny and it makes me laugh every time! some ppl keep superimposing human traits on animals thinking they are unhappy or are experiencing only negatives as we often do. animals are much smarter

God I hate it when fuckheads complain about animals needing to be in the wild. I don't think any of them realize that the ones in the zoo were either rescue or born in captivity and are too dependent on humans to live on their own. They would get fucked up in a day out there. And also if there were no zoos latter generations would know fuck all about wildlife and lead to even more butchering and habitat loss. So they don't have 20 acres? At least they're alive. Calm the fuck down.

in the wild, elephants will throw dirt and sand on their skin after a swim as a way to keep off parasites and from getting sunburned. At the zoo, the elephants are probably responding to the same instincts but simply do not have the materials around to complete it properly. Because the hay is nearby, that is all they know to use.
